Saddle Fit Assessment

€150.00

A properly fitted saddle is essential to the comfort, performance, and well-being of both horse and rider. Saddle fit assessments are designed to achieve optimal balance, harmony, and freedom of movement, ensuring that every ride enhances—not hinders—your partnership.

A saddle fitting specialist conducts a thorough evaluation of the horse’s conformation, muscle development, and way of going. I take into consideration the horse’s current level of training, age, workload, and any history of soreness or behavior changes under saddle.

Each assessment begins on the ground, where I examine the saddle’s structure, panel symmetry, gullet width, and overall condition. I then observe the saddle on the horse—both static and in motion—to assess how it distributes weight, maintains alignment, and accommodates natural movement through the back and shoulders.

Rider position and balance are equally critical. During ridden evaluation, I ensure that the saddle allows the rider to maintain correct posture and communication, facilitating a partnership built on comfort and precision.

Following the assessment, I provide a detailed summary of our findings, practical recommendations, and, where needed, guidance on saddle adjustments, flocking, or alternative options tailored to your horse’s individual needs.

A well-fitted saddle not only enhances performance—it protects the long-term health of your horse’s back and contributes to a more enjoyable, pain-free riding experience.

Please note that I will observe your horse both statically and in motion on a lunge and under saddle. This is an assessment of your current tack with measurements taken of your horse’s back, shoulders, and saddle support area. Generally a saddle assessment can take from one to two hours.
